Don't Look Up!
Quite a few years back when hubby and I had a little extra cash, and I really needed exercise because my desk job left me feeling like premature rigor-mortis was setting in, we decided to take some Tae Kwon Do lessons. We found a nice do-jang with a very skilled Korean teacher. He had several black belts and also had some really serious training in sports medicine. Monday stretching classes left us feeling like hot, cooked noodles; waking up sore on Tuesday morning was another story. He could hop and kick a target three times before landing lightly on the mats. His kicks, felt through the padding of a kicking target, were like the recoil of a 30-06 rifle. He had a very commanding presence, even though he was maybe 5'3" tall and 125 pounds soaking wet. Unfortunately, his sponsor who owned the chain of schools, did not pay him very well, so that he had to scrounge when it came to shopping for clothes. Being a bachelor, with a very small waist, he simply wore whatever fit. So we had to be really careful not to look up in the direction of his back-side on stretching class days, just in case his power-rangers underwear were showing through his uniform that day. It is a really bad idea to laugh at someone who is capable of seriously maiming you, or leaving parts of your body temporarily out of order from the careful use of pressure points. Thankfully, we held in the giggles, and learned that he also had a very good sense of humor after getting to know him.

Chiropractor was on vacation last week, yesterday I think she was trying to make up for the 2 cessions missed. When I got up this morning and stood up it is a good thing she could not hear me. I was in much pain!
ReplyDeleteSorry it hurts so much. If you can keep moving a bit more after the appointment, it may help to keep the muscles from tightening up. If not, a hot bath may help too.
ReplyDeleteMonday stretching days were much like a visit to a chiropractor/sports coach. He adjusted everything, putting it back where it belonged, then warmed-up the muscles with exercise as well, hence the comparison to feeling like a cooked noodle when class was over.
Mrs. S~ I had to laugh, My Niece is dating a TKD instructer and you just described him to a T.
