Stating the Obvious

It's still winter.
No, there's nothing wrong with the focus;
that's snow.
Snow Glitter.
"Ma, is this giant snow cone all for me?"
The neighborhood rabbits have been busy eating/pruning the lower branches of the apple trees.  I just hope the snow doesn't get much deeper.  It is fine that they take out the branches that would get in the way of the lawn mower, but there is a limit.
The garden is there somewhere under the snow pile.
The neighbor's "mutant tree" makes a good target for the snowblower.  Actually they just didn't finish cutting it down.
The wife wanted to keep it.  The husband knew it was dangerous to leave it standing as a big tree with branches threatening our garage and their cars, so this is what we get to look at for now, because the wife still wants to keep it.  Oh and there is the other matter of too small of a chainsaw.
Hope you are warm and enjoying a restful Sunday.

Chloe's Fortune Cookie

"Working out the kinks today will make for a better tomorrow."

"But ma, that would involve moving.
This spot is nice and comfy."
 "Come back here and rub my tummy some more."
Chloe, just be glad I haven't pushed you off the bed.

Sturgeon

The spearing season has been going rather well.
The ice is nice and thick, and visibility has been exceptional.
If you want to see the smiling faces of some fishermen & fisherwomen, check out the pictures at

Of course there is always an idiot out there who can't keep from getting into trouble.

A Good Week For Chocolate

These were a tasty treat purchased with some Christmas money.
They're all gone now, in spite of careful rationing, rats!
This afternoon was spent taking mom over to my aunt's house for a good scrubbing, because she really needs to be nice and clean for all her appointments this week.  Her GP went test and referral crazy at her last appointment. (Like she's really going to actively participate in any attempts to fix what's wrong with her; last time I checked laziness cannot be cured by actions made through outside forces.)
Monday she has a bone density scan.
Tuesday she has physical therapy.
(Maybe mom will use all two of the swear words she knows;
it should be interesting what she tells the therapists to do with themselves.)
Thursday she has an appointment with her diabetes doc;
been there, done that three months ago.

By Friday you may find a post on Steak with Mole' sauce followed by brownies and hot chocolate.  Knowing what I stand to inherit from mom's genetics, all the recipes may be experiments in how icky chocolate recipes can be when stevia is substituted for sugar.

Life Repeats Itself

And so do my recipes.  They have piled up over the last few years.  In order to be a bit more organized, there are now links to the posts with recipes in the sidebar.  If there are any missing or food pictures that I posted without recipes that you would like, let me know.

Here are a few reminders.

Are you hungry now?

Chloe's Fortune Cookie

Because reading fortune cookies to the dog never gets old.

Today's fortune:
"Know and believe in yourself, and what others think won't disturb you."
"Stop laughing, My hair is perfect."
"See, It's still gorgeous."
"Ok, I'll admit sometimes it gets difficult to see out."
"But then mom gives me a haircut and it is perfect again.
Right?
Wait, why are you still laughing?"
